Nacel All-Stars 2002 Tour To Australia

NACEL ALL STARS 2002 AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Game 2 – Monday 29 July 2002

Nacel All Stars vs Sydney Kings

Venue: Gosford City Sports Stadium

The change of venue allowed current Boomers and newly appointed Sydney Kings coach, Brian Goorjian, the opportunity to witness the game. Goorjian would not have been disappointed with what he saw from several of the young squad members trying to secure positions on the Kings roster.

Early in the game the Kings took control with three-time Olympian Shane Heal controlling the tempo and Michael Kingma and Chris Stauber working hard underneath the basket. The Kings lead went out to 12 in the second quarter before Andre Owens and Josh Almanson began to increase the tempo for the visitors. At half time the Kings led by one.

In the second half the match see-sawed with several aspiring Kings showing their wares. While Heal rested, Gary Boondiknort and Luke Martin both showed that they will be in line for minutes in the coming NBL season. Nacel forward, Damany Hendrix, scored 10 points in a row for the visitors as they outscored the Kings by 10 in the third quarter.
