Nacel All-Stars 2002 Tour To Australia

NACEL ALL STARS 2002 AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Game 6 – Sunday 4 August 2002

Nacel All Stars vs Sydney Kings

Venue: Alexandria Basketball Stadium

Attendance: 146

With many of the Sydney Kings players on national duties or returning from injuries, the young prospects had a chance to show their abilities. With Shane Heal resting, back up guards Travis Lane (12 points and 11 rebounds), Luke Martin (18 points) and Tim Hudson (8 points) were battling for positions and exposure.

The Nacel team improved with every game after meeting each other for the first time at the beginning of the tour. The All-Stars were in fine shooting touch with 52% from the field, 72% from 3-point land, and 79% from the free throw line.

Drake Diener led the way for Nacel with 7 from 9 out in 3-point land, finishing with 25 points. Five other players were in double figures. For the Kings, Boodinkoff (22 points) showed his class after returning to Sydney from college in the US. Stauber (22 points, 8 rebounds) and Kram (13 points, 12 rebounds) also worked hard against the tall timber.

The 15 point margin to Nacel looked solid although the Kings challenged at several times late in the game. Nacel steadied each time making their last six 3-pointers to put the result beyond doubt.
