Nacel All-Stars 2002 Tour To Australia

NACEL ALL STARS

2002 AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Game 7 – Tuesday 6 August 2002

Nacel All Stars vs Penrith Panthers

Venue: Hawkesbury Basketball Stadium

The last tour game for Nacel started at a great pace with the young Penrith Panthers pressing the Americans and running the lanes. The Panthers lead by 10 early in the game before the All Stars found their range.

6’9 Scott Merritt showed great versatility and shooting range with 18 points. Drake Diener (24 points) continued his excellent tour with 4 from 6 from 3-point land. Almanson and Nelson also showed glimpses of exciting careers ahead of them.

Penrith import, Chris Coates struggled early but fought well for 28 points. Youngsters Goran Veg and Orin Maclou showed signs of becoming excellent ABA players for Penrith in the future.

This was the final tour match for the Nacel All Stars. They should be congratulated for their professionalism throughout the 13 days. The success of the tour was a credit to the management team - coaches Mike Deane and Brian Bidlingmyer and tour managers Ed Ryder and Darin Kibel.

Horizons Sporting Events is proud to have hosted the team as tour coordinator. We look forward to Nacel returning to our shores in future years.
